Rose and I visited the Navy Yacht Club of Pensacola this evening at their monthly meeting.
We enjoyed meeting everyone, and felt right at home. I read their minutes from the last months meeting and found that they have the same number of members right now as our club (The Ragged Point Yacht Club) did when we sailed down the new river 8 months ago.
They are a GYA club, so even though the membership is limited as mentioned in the opening post, they host activities that are open to GYA members (check their website for details I am no expert, having attended only one meeting).
There are some things I saw that show they are an older club then our last club. I resigned as commodore as I left, and can tall you that there are many hats a commodore wears in a smallish club... the NYCP seems to have officers for most every function of the club... a much better arrangement IMHO.
I look forward to the race they have on the 12th, and will probably go on their cruise to Pirates Cove later this month.
Will post more as I learn more about the club.
